Press-in fastener

With thin sheet metal, it is difficult to insert heavy-duty threads due to the lack of material thickness. This is why so-called press-fit fasteners are used. These small threaded fasteners allow thin components to be securely joined together.

Press-fit fasteners are inserted into a receiving hole in the component, e.g. a punched hole in the sheet metal. The hole is slightly smaller than the press-fit fastener because metal is displaced during insertion, causing the excess metal to flow into a groove in the shank area of the fastener.

The toothed ring on the head and the hexagonal shape of the head prevent the press-fit fastener from twisting in the component. There is no damage or bulging on the back.

Arnold likes to use press-in fasteners for thinner sheet metal from a thickness of 0.5 mm. They are highly resilient and can be positioned with particular precision.
