Laser cutting
Arnold has several of the latest generation of laser cutting systems, which allow it to cut a wide variety of material types and thicknesses.
The Arnold machine park for laser cutting includes:
- A fully automated laser system (Astes4),
- A semi-automated laser system (Trumpf),
- A fully automated laser-punch combination (Trumpf).
A laser for cutting metal contains the following elements:
- An active medium (e.g. gas, liquid, semiconductor, crystal)
- A pump source that excites the active medium (e.g. diode, electric flash, voltage)
- A resonator in which the gas is held and
- A cooling system to reduce the heat generated (nitrogen, water, helium or air).
The laser radiation generated is guided to the exit point using mirrors that are transparent on one side. At the end of the output is a lens that focuses the beam once again in order to bundle it highly efficiently.
When laser cutting metal, a so-called DXF contour is usually used, which the system follows and produces the desired cut.
