Connection method
The joining process is also known as "joining". Different techniques are used depending on whether there is a requirement for the components to be able to be separated again afterwards:
Detachable connection method
The components can be separated again without damage.
- Screw connections: The components are connected with a screw. A washer is used for protection.
- Velcro fasteners: The two sides of a Velcro fastener hook into each other, but can be released again with a slight pulling movement
Non-detachable connection method
The components would have to be destroyed in order to release the connection.
The best known non-detachable joints are welded joints: Here, two metals are fused together by the application of heat.
Conditionally detachable joining method
The components remain undamaged during separation, but an auxiliary joining part must be destroyed. This includes, for example
- gluing, if the adhesive is detachable and
- riveting, if the riveted joint can be drilled out.
