Adhesive engineer
The training to become an adhesive bonding engineer (m/f/d) lasts eight weeks, followed by an examination before an independent examination board of the DVS (German Welding Society).
The training includes:
- Fundamentals of adhesion and wetting
- Types of adhesives
- Introduction to polymer chemistry
- Adhesive selection
- Adhesive properties of bonded parts
- Surface pre-treatment
- Calculation and design for bonding
- Quality assurance in adhesive bonding technology
- Quality management
- Tasks of the bonding supervisor
- Destructive and non-destructive testing technology
- Simulation of ageing processes
- Process technology and adhesive processing
- Adhesive selection under application-specific aspects
- Occupational safety
As the central point of contact, bonding supervisors must keep an eye on all factors that influence quality, from the design of the component to the planning, transportation, storage, handling and application of the adhesive, and take measures to prevent errors in these areas.
