Renate Wolff
The Golden Hour
Charité Berlin
2017

Renate Wolff is a german artist, living in Berlin. In 2017 her art-on-a-building design "The Golden Hour" won an art competition around the renovation of a high-tower and the construction of a new building at the Charité hospital in Berlin.

Arnold designed and built a dial measuring 8 meters in diameter and made of three-millimeter-thick stainless steel. The highly polished work hangs on the wall opposite the Charité's main entrance. Thanks to the gold-colored PVD coating, the surface is extremely weather-resistant and color-stable, making it ideal for outdoor use. The minute and second markers are left out and were installed on the wall in the courtyard of the new Charité building as a counterpart to the outer sculpture.
