The German Aerospace Center commissioned Johannes Leidenberger, a young artist from Düsseldorf (Germany), to create a real eye-catcher. The aluminium sculpture "Puls" will be installed at the future Executive Board- and Main Administration Building in Cologne (Germany). Leidenberger won an art-and-building competition with 5 other participants.
Because of its special shape, this wonderful work placed high demands on static feasibility, planning and production. It incorporates the art of manual sheet metal forming, i.e. aluminium sheets were formed by hand. With a special construction, they were then joined together in such a way that, despite different material thicknesses, beautiful, homogeneous edges were created. A total of 900 kilograms of aluminium and steel were processed.
