From classic to modern resort
The Öschberghof in Donaueschingen has been one of the best-known golf and wellness resorts in southern Germany for decades. The resort has been extensively expanded and reorganized. New guest rooms, a large spa, a conference center, a new reception hall and other buildings have been created.
The architecture was designed by Munich-based architects Allmannwappner, whose design was inspired by the regional architecture of the Black Forest. Several saddle roof houses together form an ensemble that blends quietly into the landscape.

When material and vision come together
The facade solution was still open at the start of the project. Originally, a metal cladding made of embossed stainless steel was planned - but a more economical and technically equivalent alternative was sought. Involved in the project at an early stage, we worked with the architects and client in workshops to develop various solutions and elaborate on them in a targeted manner.
The roof cladding and facade cladding were deliberately separated from each other - for permanent weather protection and simplified maintenance. Coil-coated steel from Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG was chosen as the cladding material: precisely color-coordinated, easy to shape and architecturally convincing.

"Our customers don't have to settle for an off-the-peg compromise. You can give free rein to your idea. What lies between vision and uniqueness is our craft."

Custom-made products from Friedrichsdorf
Some components could only be manufactured at the Arnold AG plant. These included the eaves elements with particularly high requirements for tightness and accuracy of fit.
For these parts, sheet metal profiles had to be sawn at a special angle, joined and permanently sealed. At the Friedrichsdorf site, a sliding table saw was even converted for this purpose in order to be able to process the profiles. In the end, around 1,000 edge elements were produced, which our final assembly team completed.

Steel meets wood - outstanding facade architecture in harmony with the landscape
The folded steel sheets now characterize the facades of the new buildings. Together with the wooden facades of the existing buildings, the result is a calm overall appearance that blends in well with the landscape.
The quality of the design was recognized in 2020 with the German Facade Award. For us, this is above all a nice confirmation that good architecture and a well thought-out technical solution belong together.

Strong network, convincing result
A project of this size requires the cooperation of reliable partners. Arnold AG took over the development of the facade and roof concept as well as the entire coordination of the implementation. Müncker produced the facade profiles directly from delivered coils; the on-site assembly was carried out by our partner company Schlichter. This well-coordinated cooperation was the basis for a result that is technically and creatively convincing.
