Shattered Glass / The Confessions of Philip Johnson
This artwork, designed by American object artist Dennis Adams, was created for the 50th anniversary of the Kunsthalle Bielefeld. The piece is almost five meters long, three meters wide, and two meters high, and is a part of a series of bus stop installations that Adams began in 1983. Constructed from steel, aluminum, glass, and featuring two monitors, the installation was produced at the Arnold production site in Friedrichsdorf, Hesse.
With his signature circular glasses, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect now gazes out over the city's cultural landscape. Displayed on two monitors behind shattered glass panels, sentences ("Confessions") are played as a movie, blending a mix of quotes and fictional confessions crafted by Adams.
